The present section deals with the events concerning the conversion of Peter (Acts 9:31–11:18) whereby he at last comes to understand that the good news of Jesus is for Jews and Gentiles alike. Since the Greek pages of Codex Bezae are missing from 8:29 to 10:14 and the Latin ones from 8:20b to 10:4, we have noted in the Critical Apparatus the variants of other witnesses that differ from the Alexandrian text. From 10:4b (fol. 455a), the Latin text of Codex Bezae is available. The Greek text starts at 10:14b (fol. 455b).

The preposition π + dative read by B03 has the sense of ‘over’, i.e. ‘on
account of’, whereas π + genitive means ‘in the time of’. The causal sense
of B03 can also be conveyed by the D05 reading π + genitive (‘arising
out of’)1, but the preposition π could equally be taken to signify ‘from
the time of’.
The absence of the article before Stephen in B03 can be explained by
the fact that no mention has been made of Stephen since 8:2. By main-
taining the article, D05 ties the two parts of the story of the scattered
disciples closely together2.

The word order variation causes no difference in meaning but the
order of D05 confers a certain emphasis on the activity of the travelling
disciples; in the order of B03, speaking the word is presented as if it could
be taken for granted that this would be their expected activity.

B03 reads the adverb, where D05 reads the adjective qualifying
ουδα οι . The latter draws more attention to the Jews as the only bene-
ficiaries of the disciples’ evangelizing.

B03 mentions the ‘Hellenists’, which is otherwise used by Luke to mean
the Jews of Greek-speaking origin (6:1; 9:29). Here, it is clearly Gentiles
who are meant, as indicated by the D05 reading. Barrett3 suggests that
the term λληνιστ could apply to Greek-speaking Gentiles but there
