In Chapter 15 of Acts, a point of critical importance for the growth of the Church and its relationship with Judaism is reached. Luke narrates the difficulty posed for Jewish Jesus-believers by the increasing number of Gentiles believers and the decision taken by the Church leaders in Jerusalem not to subject them to the usual conditions for proselytes. In the Bezan text, some conflict of opinion between Peter, Paul and Barnabas on the one hand, and James on the other is apparent, a tension that is attenuated in the Alexandrian text. Further conflict is also highlighted in Codex Bezae between Paul and Barnabas who separate following the meeting in Jerusalem.

given by Simeon the Just and goes on to cite what Simeon said about the
Prophets, that they will (οὕτως συμφωνήνουσιν, future) concord with
its teaching.

δέ of D05 expresses the notion that the Prophets build on the teachings
of the Torah, not just repeat them. The D05 verb follows Jer. 12:15 LXX.

The same vl is found in Amos 9.11 LXX: κατεστραμμένα Ac Q*, κατ-
εσκαμ- B Qa. Both are perfect participles. The former verb, καταστρέφω,
has the sense of destroy a city (Bailly, 1) while the latter, κατασκάπτω,
has the same meaning, though with greater intensity (Bailly, 2 ‘saper,
miner, d’où détruire de fond en comble’).

Most MSS of Amos 9:12 LXX continue from ἀνθρώπων to καὶ πάντα
directly; but B03 follows A02, where τὸν κύριον is a reference to YHWH,
which D05 never uses from the point of view of Gentiles (see Read-
Heimerdinger, The Bezan Text, p. 286).

B03 continues the citation from Amos 9:12. The D05 reading
(described as a ‘leçon impossible’ by Delebecque [Les deux Actes, p. 96]),
may be understood as an emphatic declaration by James, prefacing his
final citation from the Prophets in the D05 text. It is unlikely to have
arisen through homoioteleuton, whereby the relative pronoun was
omitted because it resembled the end of the previous word (ΚΥΡΙΟCΟC),
since the divine title is abbreviated in D05 to ΚC.
